'You're Never Too Old' was created using the late children's author Dr Seuss, and my interest in rave culture as the fundamentals for my designs.

Dr Seuss was known for his wacky, outlandish characters and stories, those of which I was immensely fond of when I was a child. Growing up I was also immersed in rave culture as a result of having a dad who is a DJ. My dad always told me you’re never too old to have fun, an expression I wish to carry through my life. This led me to create “You’re Never Too Old” as a projection of my life from then to now, whilst also paying homage to my dad’s attitude.

I chose to use rave garment archetypes such as two pieces and tracksuits as the base garments, whilst sticking to their true fabrics. PVC tubes and tunnels were used to give the garments that fun, wacky element that is apparent in Dr Seuss’ illustrations, specifically his tubular inventions. Similarly, his architectural illustrations demonstrate the illusion of never ending stairs and tunnels, also informing my holes and tube placement. The giant hands are a representation of the sea of hands that swarm the air at raves.

I wanted this collection to be fun. I don’t take myself or life too seriously and wanted this to be present in the collection.
