This project was dedicated to drag queen Juno Birch. Birch started transitioning when she was 13 - she found this very alienating which is why some of her art focuses on alien-esque woman.
Birch's drag is characterised as a 50's/60's housewife inspired by Jennifer Coolidge in Legally Blonde, mixed with alien-like skin.
Birch explains she was always insecure about being a trans women, but once her dysmorphia faded, she started to embrace her masculine features. Thus, creating alien characters with stubble, broad shoulders and adam's apples.
The outfit I created inspired by Juno embodied her colourful, housewife aesthetic, whilst following the tailoring brief provided.
